India Council

About the Council

The Sustainable Markets Initiative India Council was launched in October 2021. It recognises the importance of India’s involvement in global sustainability initiatives and acknowledges it can play a crucial role in enabling this engagement.

Members of the India Council have identified specific areas of focus to achieve its objectives.

The Council:

1. Aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices related to sustainability initiatives undertaken in select high-impact areas;

2. Aspires to showcase the sustainability-focused leadership, capabilities, and initiatives of the council members on various international platforms and fora

3. Drives progress and expedites outcomes in high-impact areas, particularly those aligned with India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The India Council aims to contribute significantly to global sustainability efforts while highlighting India’s commitment and achievements in addressing crucial environmental and climate-related challenges.
