    About the Greece Council

The Greece Council is dedicated to demonstrating pioneering progress within the Greek economy, placing a strong emphasis on sustainability and decarbonization. Officially launched in April 2022, the Council has established ambitious decarbonisation goals, with a clear objective of transitioning from high-carbon emitting energy resources, to instead capitalise on Greece's abundant wind and solar resources, building on more renewable energy opportunities in the country.

To effectively support sustainability efforts, the Greece Council actively engages in conversations and collaborates with the Sustainable Markets Initiative's Task Forces. By doing so, it aims to drive progress across its five primary sectors: aviation, energy, manufacturing, shipping, and telecoms. These sectors play a critical role in Greece's sustainable development agenda.

By showcasing leadership and fostering collaboration, Greece aspires to become a frontrunner in sustainability, setting an influential example for others to follow. With its strategic focus on leveraging natural resources and actively involving various sectors, Greece is committed to forging a greener and more sustainable future. The Greece Council is at the forefront of this endeavour, working towards the collective goal of creating a more sustainable and prosperous society.
