About the Council
The Sustainable Markets Initiative’s China Council was launched ahead of COP26 and following His Majesty King Charles III’s, as Prince of Wales, virtual address to the COP 15 UN Biodiversity Conference in Kunming in October 2021. His Majesty was invited to speak and establish the Sustainable Markets Initiative's China Council by President Xi Jinping. The China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) became the official host of the Sustainable Markets Initiative's China Council in August 2022.

The China Council is focused on implementing thought leadership on eco-civilization and building momentum for more sustainable practices across its national and local business activities. The China Council aims to bring forward solutions and sustainable development opportunities in the country while working to build cooperation on sustainable development between Chinese and foreign enterprises.
